Stellar Network · Fixed Supply · 8,000,000,000
The internet always had a payment status code. Now it has a token to match. x402 is a hard-capped, deflationary token on Stellar — built for machine-to-machine payments, API monetisation, and permissionless digital commerce.
What is x402
RFC 7231 reserved HTTP status code 402 for future use — a placeholder for a payments layer that never arrived. x402 fills that gap on the Stellar blockchain: a fixed-supply token purpose-built for frictionless, programmable payments between people, services, and machines.
No inflation. No new supply. Ever. The issuer account is locked after genesis, making the 8 billion unit cap a cryptographic guarantee, not a promise.
Why x402
Exactly 8,000,000,000 X402 exist. The issuing account is locked at genesis. No mint function, no governance vote can change this.
3–5 second finality. Transaction fees under $0.0001. Stellar's DEX enables atomic swaps and path payments out of the box.
Designed for M2M micropayments — APIs, agents, and services that charge per call, per token, or per byte, settling in real time.
Every X402 transaction is publicly verifiable on Stellar's ledger. Supply, issuance, and account state are auditable by anyone.
No KYC to hold. No whitelist to join. Any Stellar account with a trustline can send, receive, and trade X402 freely.
Fully described via stellar.toml following Stellar Ecosystem Proposals — compatible with all major Stellar wallets and exchanges.

On-chain identity
Trustlessness means you don't have to take our word for it. The issuer address, supply cap, and account lock status are all publicly auditable on the Stellar ledger right now.
Get started
Download Lobstr, Freighter, or any SEP-compliant Stellar wallet. Create and fund your account with a small XLM balance for fees.
Add a trustline to the X402 issuer address. This one-time action costs 0.5 XLM in reserve and authorises your account to hold X402.
Trade for X402 on the Stellar DEX using XLM, USDC, or any other supported asset. Atomic settlement, no counterparty risk.
Pay APIs, settle between services, or just hold. Transactions confirm in seconds with fees measured in fractions of a cent.
